Eats represents the husband-wife duo of Chef-Owners Evan Handler and Toby Matasar. Both are culinary school grads, Evan of New York Restaurant School and Toby of The Culinary Institute of America and L'Ècole Lenôtre. Their experiences have taken them through New York, Chicago, and Paris and eventually brought them here to Seattle. Toby has been working as a pastry chef for several years, with her most recent position as the executive pastry chef for Tom Douglas Restaurants, which include Dahlia Lounge and Dahlia Bakery. Evan has been working for the last twenty years throughout the restaurants and gourmet stores in New York City, including Dean & DeLuca and Zabar's, and now most recently at Metropolitan Markets.
Most people develop into "foodies" later in life. Toby and Evan were born into it. Through their families, friends, travels and home environments, food has always been more than just a need, it has been their passion. This passion is what you must experience for yourselves at Eats Market Café. "We established Eats Market Café to provide a bakery café to serve our neighbors in West Seattle and beyond. Our mission is to offer handmade seasonal comforting foods and pastries that are nourishing for both the body and soul. We have created an inviting, casual and friendly environment with a warm, courteous and attentive staff for you to sit back, relax and enjoy good food and good company. We invite you to come and join us at our place and we look forward to meeting you soon. A sincere thank you from Evan & Toby." |
